epson multifunction cx5200 problem

E

Elijah Bailey

I bought a cx5200 sometime back and used it till my ink was finished
which came with the printer. I replaced the ink, with a generic ink,
and it worked well too. When it started complaining about the second
round getting finished, I popped in another round of generic ink, and
now the printer wont print anything.

There are faint black/color things on the paper, but nothing readable.
Sometimes the text seems to be missing horizontal lines. I dont know
if epson will take it back since i'm using generic ink already. Anyone
has seen such a problem with epson cx5200? Any thing i cud try.

Of course I've already tried out the head cleaning and the nozzle cleaning.
They dont help.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Elijah,
I was planning to refill my RX500 when the original cartridges get used
up, but stories like yours makes me think otherwise. Where did you buy
your ink from? Did you try all the normal maintenance procedures? Are
you getting any error messages? You can check your printer further by
putting in some OEM cartridges and see if that makes the problem go away.
Did you run the printer until the ink was completely used up after your
first refill? Keep us posted on your progress, as some of us depend on these
kinds of feedback to make decisions on what to do about ink supply.

The usual cause of *ink starvation* is because tiny microbubbles of air are
trapped in the ink feed system. This can be when the cartridges are badly
seated or the seals not too well made. All compatible cartridges are not
equal !
A proven trick is to use a few drops of Windolene (USA Windex) which is an
ammonia content window cleaner fluid and place a few drops on the parking
sponge pads under the parking position: it acts as a solvent for dye based
inks.
Some compatibles do come with a flush fluid such as our JetTec cartridges.
The next step is to use this by filling a spent cartridge with some
Windolene or flush and then print a few test pages. You are then cleaning
from within.
You would naturally and probably need a chip reset to allow a spent
cartridge to function.
When the dilute ink begins to fade it at least proves you have flushed the
system through.
Microbubbles trapped in the cartridge foam and feeder system are the very
devil to shift, so do check the seating of each and every cartridge.
