Epson Inkjet Stylus Photo 950 - CD Printing?

Hello,

Can anyone recommend - firstly this printer overall and - secondly -
the CD printing capabilities of this printer (i.e. does it thermally
print onto the CDs ??? How good is this? etc.).

I got a TDK CD printer a while back but I am not too happy with it as
it is only capable of printing a title on a CD in one colour - i.e. no
graphics or different colours.

If anyone could recommend this printer and comment on the CD printing
that would be great.

Thanks.

E.

It prints wonderfully on CD's. It uses the same micropiezo technology of
all the Espons. You are not limited to one color but can print as many as
the printer can make. My cd's turn out great on the 960.

can you get true blacks? I have the 2100 and it won't print black properly (or any dark colours).
All blacks turn out grey. The whole disk really look like it was printed in draft mode, washed out.
The demo Epson sent me had no dark areas in it!

I think it is the net effect of the CD-R inject printable surface, if I print using photopaper type
settings, it looks nearly as good as on paper, but the ink doesn't adhere properly and rubs off even
months later.

The cd's are very good. I had no problem with the blacks not looking right.
Everyone I show the cd's to agree they look like my photos.

Hello and many thanks for the reply.

I'm seriously considering this printer.

When you say it works wonderfully - are you able to print a colour
picture e.g. an album cover onto a CD? Also - can you print all over a
CD face as the TDK CD printer I have only lets you print at the top
and the bottom of a CD - which is very limited.

By the way:

I (stupidly) got an Epson Stylus C62. I know this was a low cost
option but I expected the photo print quality to be much better. It
turns out to be blocky and quite unsuitable at times - i.e. I would
not consider putting any of the photos produced by it in an album.
This was using a high quality camera and Adobe Photoshop (as well as
other software). A much older Epson Stylus 640 amazingly produces much
better photo prints on the "High" quality setting!

I contacted Epson to ask for an upgrade (at my own expense obviously)
but they were of the attitude "contact the vendor as there is nothing
wrong with the printer". The vendor (Ebuyer) does not want to know as
I have opened the printer and installed the ink cartridges. I tolf
Epson that I was not happy with the overall quality of their product
for the money and specification but they would not budge.

Any ideas?

Many thanks.

Eric.
