Epson CX5200 Went Belly Up After Changing An Ink Cartridge

It worked fine for 7 months, then this morning, after printing out
the usual stuff, it warned me that the ink was low. So, I changed the
ink cartridge, and tried to print. It thumped and bumped but the
paper came out unsullied by any ink.

I ran the head clean routine - several times - from the pc and from
the printer's front panel. Still no joy.

I re-installed the old - known good, but low on ink - cartridge, ran a
head cleaning routine, then tried the nozzle check pattern - both from
the printer's front panel to eliminate any PC-related drama, but it
still shoved out blank paper.

Does anyone have any notions about this?

Is Epson so greedy that the printer craps out as soon as you change
cartridges?

Do I need to buy a new [expletive deleted] printer every time my ink
runs low?

Enquiring minds want to know.

If the printer is less than a year old it is still under warranty from
Epson. If you call them they will troubleshoot and then determine if it is
indeed dead. They will replace it with a new one. Why not let them take
care of it for you instead of swearing about it?
