Epson C84 - Only 50 pages per cartridge??

I bought a new Epson C84 a couple months ago.

I've only printed about 10-15 normal pages , (only 2 were color
photos), and the ink levels show 3/4 full across all 4 cartridges.

I thought Epson C84's gave you full cartridges from the factory and
the black cartridge is supposed to be high capacity and good for about
2 reams of paper.

Either the ink level indicator is very inaccurate or this printer is
an ink hog.

Does anyone have any experience with the ink consumption of this
printer??? So far it's looking like $1/page.

Although I've never personally owned an Epson, I believe the first
cartridges need to "charge" the print head so a lot of ink is used. Your
replacement cartridges after this set should last much longer.

Your right.. When I got my CX5200 all in one the 1st black cart didn't last
as long as the next one I put in..
The 1st charge takes a good bit out of the 1st set.. After the 1st set I
am getting about 1200 sheets from a full cart..

I have a new C84, but haven't used it yet. Does anyone know if the
Durabrite inks have been duplicated yet by one of the refill suppliers?
Thanks,

Epson cartridges are also regarded as empty when 30% ink left.
