Epson AcuLaser C1100 print samples

I've still not been able to obtain print samples from an AcuLaser C1100
printer. Epson refuse to print samples for anybody, and there are no
retailers in the entire country which have a demo C1100 printer. If
anybody could provide me with print sample(s) from this printer, I'll
reimburse the costs involved.

My take Epson really does not want to sell the product or there is something
wrong with the hardware

You don't live in the UK do you? :p

I would have thought a place like PC World would have demo machines in
store?

I've called PC World, Staples, many other stores and print shops. I've
called all of the resellers Epson recommended to me (some of which
don't even work with Epson anymore). I've contacted all of the
specialist colour laser printer websites, most of which advertise a
free print sample service (for the other printers they stock). I
posted to a German newsgroup where a lot of people seem to have C1100
printers, but none offered to print anything. I've contacted several
magazines who have reviewed the C1100 but they had returned it to Epson
by the time I spoke to them. Really am running out of ideas here...
lol.

Have you tried theprinterdatabase.com?

If you have so much problem just trying to get some info on the printer,
what will it be when it has trouble down the road and you are in need of
help???? Just a big question you should ask yourself before you buy the
product.

Well, still haven't gotten anywhere. However, I was surfing Epson's
webpage in Australia, and they specifically mention print samples on
their contact page, so I sent an e-mail offering to pay for
international postage etc, and maybe that will lead somewhere *fingers
crossed*. People in other countries are often more helpful and
accommodating.

On a related note, I just received a print sample of HP's LaserJet 3500
and the quality is very impressive. I think that might be a good
second choice if I have to rule the C1100 out.

Just an update...

Ever since the beginning of January I've been trying to get hold of a
print sample of the AcuLaser C1100 printer, and it's been quite a
challenge. I spent most of the past 150 days contacting people by
e-mail or phone, visiting various stores, and searching for information
online. Epson UK refused to help in any way. I also had to deal with
a few other idiots, but I won't go into that now.

However, I finally managed to get a print sample! I found an article
on Google in which Epson were advertising the printer, and an e-mail
address to contact a person who works at Epson in New Zealand. I sent
this person an e-mail, explained what I'd been through and a print
sample was posted all the way over here to England. Now that I've seen
it I know that the C1100 is the perfect printer for me, and I'll be
ordering one just as soon as my new computer is built.

I guess there are two possible lessons that could be learnt from this.
1) perseverance pays off
2) customer service is so deficient these days that you'll have to
speak to somebody on the other side of the planet before you'll get any
kind of meaningful assistance

Man, there sure a lot of you from the UK in this newsgroup! I'm in the USA
and if I ever have a question regarding any Epson product, I just call Epson
Technical Support (in New York) and they are happy to help me. They
transfer me to sales or even their research guys if I want. I've had
wonderful conversations with the lab techs, although the Bronx and New
Jersey accents are quite funny, and they are all ready to help.

They have mailed me packets of a dozen or so print samples, all on 8 1/2" by
11" papers. Some of the prints off the professional printers are
incredible! Give the guys in New York a call. You can get the number off
the Epson America website.

Based on info in this newsgroup Epson UK sucks.
