Epson 4180 problem

Hi

I have done about 500 scans with this scanner -- almost all slides -- and
just noticed a narrow green line running down the most recent scans. It
appears to be in the same place in all scans.

Does this mean a bad CCD already?

Have you made sure the first one inch along the top of the scanner bed is
*absolutely* spotless to avoid any issues with/during calibration? If that
doesn't help, you might position your scanner on its side at about 85
degrees and run a few scans to see if you can dislodge any dust that may
have dropped onto the scanning element. Last thing to try in if you are out
of warranty is to open up the scanner, clean the glass and possibly use
compressed air to lightly blow off the scanning element.
