epson 2580 focus problem

Hi there,
I have an epson 2580 with automatic film loader. While it works well
as flatbed scanner, it seems to have problems while scanning slides or
films as the scanned images are out of focus. Has someone experienced
the same problem? Is there any work-around for such problem?

My 2480 has razor sharp focus on slides and negatives, I thought the 2580
was supposed to be easier to use with its auto feeder, but perhaps its the
feeder that's the problem.
