Comparison between older HP 5370c and new Epson 2580

Hi,

I have an older HP5370c which has stopped working and I want to buy a
new scanner that will scan slide and transp's. I don't want a HP as I
am tired of their lack of support with XP and I have 3 units that are
affected. The 5370 says it scans at 1200 42 bit whilst the new Epson
2580 is 2400 and 48 bit.

Am I way ahead if I buy the Epson 2580? It is $275 in Sydney Australia.

I also have a HP Scanjet 5370c and it stopped working.
I open it and found the problem in the circuit board....a single resistance
R105 burned.
I would cost between 150 to 200$ to repair.
I only need the circuit diagram so I can replace the resistance.
It is so burned that I cannot read the value on it.
Could you help me.
I cannot get that help from HP
