HOW TO GET RID OF THE SPLOTCHES ON YOUR ROLLER

Today I was experiencing the blotchy ink smudge problem. I cleaned and
cleaned the rollers, but the blotches kept appearing.

After reading a lot of posts that said that you need to keep cleaning
the rollers and running sheets of paper through the printer, I decided
that the solution had to be something else.

I determined that there must be a wad of lint or hairs between the
bottom/rear of the print carriage and the row of small gray rollers
that ride on top of the main roller.

Here's what I did:

1.) Cut a piece of flat cardboard (not corrugated, but the kind like
on a cracker box) and cut it down to a 3/4" wide by 10" long strip,

2.) Fold the strip lengthwise to form a piece of cardboard angle
iron,

3.) Unplug the printer,

4.) Push the small white lever that is to the left of the print head
carriage when it is parked to the right...gently flip the white lever
until it drops down into the deck...this will allow the print head
carriage to be moved by hand,

5.) Rest the folded cardboard over the row of gray rollers so the
"corner" is pointing up and toward you,

6.) Move the print head carriage once over the cardboard...this will
catch and dislodge the fuzz,

7.) Remove the cardboard, and repeat with clean strips of cardboard
if there is still some ink,

8.) Finally, remove the cardboard strips and plug the printer back
in...you should be good to go!

I hope this helps someone else!

Thanks for posting this.

Were you able to determine is there was dust/hair or other "stuff" in
the location you mention, and if this removed it adequately?
