ePrompter

"ePrompter automatically and simultaneously checks and retrieves your e-
mail messages from up to 16 password-protected e-mail accounts, such as
AOL, Hotmail, Yahoo, POP3, Earthlink, Juno, MSN, GO, Email.com, Mail.com,
Mindspring, OneBox, Rediffmail, USA.net, and hundreds of other e-mail
domains. ePrompter not only lets you compose, forward, and reply to your
retrieved messages, but also gives you the ability to delete unwanted
spam or suspicious looking mail without having to launch your e-mail
program or having to go to your Web mail's site.

ePrompter notification features include a unique rotating tray icon and a
choice of five unique screensavers that let you know at a glance the
number of new messages in each account, as well as audio alerts for new
messages. ePrompter also includes autodial for automatic message
retrieval.

The latest version (SR16) includes updates for Netscape, Juno, and
Mail.com. Also, ePrompter has removed ads and is once again freeware."

Have not tryed it yet but I'm going to.

It's very nice. You'll like it, if you have good taste. ;)

I've tired it. It does what is says it does with the following results.

1) After the program is done installing, make sure you run the program
at that point. If you do not, you will not be given the options to
create desktop, start menu options.

2) Program downloads the first page of your web mail site. You can not
go any further then this. You have the option of deleting any item you
see on the next update.

3) Mail is retrieved in text only [ No HTML ]

4) Program has no option to open your browser to your web mail page. [
Would like that option ]

5) Program had no problem accessing my Netscape or Hotmail accounts.

6) Handy to see what new mail you have. Auto check and auto notify with
sound.

7) Has screen saver that displays current status of web mail counters for
each account.

8) Does not allow all features of web mail page.

9) Registry and file friendly. 1 Key added, no system files changed.

10) Give it a go. Program will let you know if that e-mail you have been
waiting for has arrived. Can also be used to make sure the account is
not closed because you haven't checked the account in the last 30 days.

11) Above are in no particular order of importance, just the way it came
out when I was writing.

Right. Okay so far. Just what I wanted. It wasn't my email program.
3) Mail is retrieved in text only [ No HTML ]

Exactly right. My email isn't the web; it doesn't need HTML. And since the
checker/notifier (ePrompter) isn't my email program, it *especially*
doesn't need HTML.
4) Program has no option to open your browser to your web mail page. [

Neutral.

5) Program had no problem accessing my Netscape or Hotmail accounts.

Cool. Never had any of those. I primarily used ePrompter for Yahoo
accounts -- maybe exclusively, now that I think of it. That's where my
only accounts are, now, that don't have POP access. For the record,
ysing fetchyahoo, now.
6) Handy to see what new mail you have. Auto check and auto notify with
sound.

That's what it's for.
7) Has screen saver that displays current status of web mail counters for
each account.

Don't use screen savers, so neutral.
8) Does not allow all features of web mail page.

Only wanted a checker/notifier that let me kill junk without downloading it;
so okay by me.
9) Registry and file friendly. 1 Key added, no system files changed.

Nice, in these days of 1,000-key registry messers-with. :)

Nice summary of your comments regarding ePrompter, long a favorite in
this newsgroup (see www.pricelessware.org). And thanks to those who
post details when they try a new program.
