Envelope Printing Question with Word 2003

I use a Brother 1440 printer with what I believe to be the latest driver
from Brother. OS is Windows XP Home with SP2.

When I insert an envelope into the manual tray of the printer according
to the orientation shown in the Envelopes and Labels pop up window, it
prints the address fine except the address is on the other side; the
flap side. The orientation calls for inserting the envelope face side
down with the flap to the right. OK, so I turn the envelope over to
face side up and the address prints on the face side but it is upside
down relative to the flap.

Something is out of sync with the orientation picture in the pop up
window. I have tried all the options for orientation of the feed.

Has anyone encountered this? What can I do to get the printed envelope
to print like the orientation says other than to remember not to pay any
attention to the pop up?

Thank you very much.

I've had the same problem with some HP printers. The only thing I could do
was to remember to not put the envelope in like the options suggested.
Hopefully someone has a better idea for you.

You can change this--go to Envelopes & Labels in Word, Envelopes, Options
button, Printing Options, Change it to your printer's method.

Thanks, but I have tried every combination of those settings but the
printed envelope always comes out other than that shown on the
pictorials in Envelopes and Labels/Options. Go figure!

Same result under Word 2003 and XP SP2. The envelope prints on the
'face up side' but upside down with respect to the flap. I will just
tape a note above the printer to remind me to insert the envelope face
up with the flap to the left rather than the fight as the pictorial
calls for.

Thanks again.
