Entry Point Not Found

I just did the automatic update of my Windows 2000--there
were 5 critical updates involving security issues. I
rebooted as instructed and got the following error before
the PC shut down:

SAS window: windlogon.exe - Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point I_CertUpdateStore could not be
located in t he dynamic link library CRYPT32.DLL.

I clicked OK and the reboot went through. I went to see
if there were any more updates for my Windows and it says
there are not.

Can anyone help with this error? What should I do?
Thanks!

You can look in Event Viewer to see if there are any related messages that
may indicate an ongoing problem. Possibly the restart resolved the issue. You
could also run Microsoft Security Baseline Analyzer to see if it reports the
update as missing. There is also a newsgroup dedicated to update issues
[Microsoft.public.Windowsupdate]where you may want to post for further

I've seen the same exact problem on a few PC's today. I haven't noticed a pattern yet (SP3 vs. SP4, etc.). I had to use a Windows 2000 Professional CD with Service Pack 4 (SP4) to do a "manual repair". Make sure you use a CD that includes the same SP as the broken PC, or you'll run into problems if you use an older SP to fix a PC that has a newer SP

Steps
1) Pop in the CD and start up the P
2) Hopefully the PC has a bootable CDRom, watch for "press any key to boot from CD
3) choose repair (R
4) choose emergency repair process (R
5) choose manual repair (M
6) "if you have emergency repair disk ...", press (L

I've sometimes had to run the repair more than once to fix the PC

Clarification: at least one PC got the same error but was able to reboot OK (sounds like your situation
several others wouldn't reboot OK, and we had to repair them with the W2K Pro CD
