Enter a number

Hi
I'm using Excel 2003 and I don't know what happened ,but, I no longer can enter a number like 146 into a cell without it adding a decimal to it.
I've tried to format with general,number,accounting,special and custom with no luck.
At a loss as to what I did.
Please anyone
