Is there anyway to format a table of contents, figures
etc not to include a endnote or cross-reference? I have
several figures that have reference and I do not want to
have the endnote number appear in the table of figures.
I am running Word 2003.

Thanks,
Marla

Hi Mara

How are you inserting the captions, footnotes and table of figures? I just
did the following (with Word 2003), and it did not show the footnote or
endnote number in the Table of Figures.

1. To insert the caption to the figure: Insert > Reference > Caption. Make
sure the Label box says Figure. Type your caption (eg "Photograph of a Lunar
Eclipse").

2. To insert the footnote (or endnote): At the end of the caption (ie after
'eclipse'), Insert > Reference > Footnote. Make appropriate choices of the
option, click Insert and type the Foornote (or end note) (eg "Courtesy of
NASA").

3. To insert the Table of Figures: Insert > Reference > Index and Tables.
Click the Table of Figures tab, choose any necessary options, and click OK.

Click within the Table of Figures. Press F9 and when asked, choose to Update
the Entire Table.

I then see a Table of Figures (well, one figure!) without the Footnote (or
Endnote) numbering included in the TOF.

Hope this helps.
