endless loop application install error

This has happened on a few games i have tried to install now.

The autorun goes when i put in the disk. The hourglass comes up..and stays
up.

I check the task manager and i see that the setup.exe file is getting loaded
and loaded in an endless loop...or until i eject the CD.

I have looked on the net and been unable to find a similiar problem.

I'm posting here...because it seems like it may be an installer error.

But if anyone knows what might be going on ..please tell !

i have win2000 sp 4 /dx9 c
the game i just tried to install was unbisoft's Rainbow 6 3: raven shield.

I was trying to install it on my LG cd-RW ..
I have all kinds of quirky installation issues..that i can usually get
around by installing on the dvd drive and by-passing the autorun (explore to
setup.exe).

but this endless loop (of loading the setup.exe file) has me mystified...
perhaps caused by some severe copy protection on the disk (yes, these games
are originals)

In a long-term stability bent, you may want to disable autoplay. It can
cause odd problems though they are rare. On servers and things that have to
be up 100% if the time, you always do this.

Do this in the local computer policy.
