End of sheet

When I press Ctrl + End the cursor goes way past the last used cell in the
sheet.

How do I get rid of the blank cells so that this takes me to the last cell
used.

I am sure I have seen an answer to this problem before but I am unable to
recall it.

Your help would be most appreciated.
