Just curious, if you know how to use EFS (Encrypted File System), why are
you asking?

Windows XP Home or Pro?
Windows XP Home does not support EFS.

Do you have NTFS and not FAT 32 file system?

Have you disabled Simple File Sharing?

EFS is a good way to permanently lose data if not used properly.
See the links near the bottom of this screen for information on how to
prevent data loss with EFS:

File encryption is only available with Windows XP
Professional installed on a hard drive formatted NTFS.
If you have Windows XP Home Edition, file encryption
is not an available feature.

This post-er has done even worse! Please see post in Setup. I did look at
referenced pages, but see no help there, inasmuch as deleting the certificate
seemed like the thing to do at the time ...
