"Encountered problem and must close"

Every time I close Internet Explorer or a pop up I get
the message that "Internet Explorer has encountered a
problem and must close. Then it sends a report. I was
told to uninstall and reinstall but since I have Windows
XP and Internet Explorer is part of the package, I cannot
uninstall. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Reinstalling Internet Explorer may not be needed [depends upon the DLL caused the error]

To start with: Disable third-party browser extensions in Internet Explorer

1. Click Start, Run, and type inetcpl.cpl. [or control inetcpl.cpl]
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Under Browsing, clear the Enable third-party browser extensions
(requires restart) check box.
4. Restart Internet Explorer.
