enabling auoto-login

Can some tell me in XP pro, how to enable auto-login. I
have used Fresh UI to effect this but it only works once
before reverting to the usual name entry page and I would
far rather enable direct entry

There are 2 other methods I know of. Use TweakUI for XP from MS, or type
"control userpasswords2" in the run box from the a/c you want to
automatically login from. Either is fairly intuitive. The fun starts if
you get the same results! I have set this with a non-blank password
which simplifies running tasks from the Scheduler.

To clarify, it appears from reading Anando's reply to the same question
in another thread that if you use control userpasswords2, you don't have
to be logged into the a/c you want as default but you get prompted to
enter the a/c & password when you uncheck "Users must enter a user name
and password to use this computer." after clicking Apply.

Hi Daniel,
If the Auto-logon thing is working properly only once and reverts back after
that, then in the registry (Click on Start>Run and type REGEDIT.EXE)
navigate to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

and click edit>new and choose String value and name it to ForceAutologon.
Double click the value once it is created and set its data to 1.

You can refer to
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315231 for further
help.
