Enabling Audio for Remote Desktop

J

JT

When I run tscc.msc on our terminal server, and go under
the Connection tab, and right-click on RDP-Tcp and select
Properties, and then select the Client Settings Tab,
there's a section called "Disable the following"
and "Audio Mapping" is check-marked to be disabled.
However, it's grayed out so I'm unable to REMOVE this
check-mark to enable audio mapping. I'm logged on as
admin so I don't understand why it's grayed out. Is there
a way to get and change this setting?

thx

Are you running W2K on the server?
Audio redirection is not supported natively with W2K. The reason
that the checkbox is there at all is because it becomes available
when you install Citrix on top of W2K.
Upgrading to 2003 is a cheaper option, though.

Yes, our TS is a W2K Server. Is there an upgrade for 2003
or is it a full install? I just got this server up and
running.....thx for your quick reply.

I think you can upgrade from W2K to 2003 in place, although I
never recommend that (a fresh install is always the preferred way
to install any OS, in my eyes).

But before you do so, spend some time evaluating the consequences.
Licensing has changed quite a bit from W2K to 2003, so you might
find the costs rather high, depending on your type of Licensing
Agreement, the OS on your clients, and how crucial audio
redirection is for your company.
Also check if your existing applications and printers function
under 2003!

I got a similar problem on properties of RDP-Tcp

the "connections to drive" is check-marked to be disabled.
However, it's grayed out so I'm unable to REMOVE this
how can I do ?
thank you

Same problem, same solution.
Drive redirection is not a feature of W2K TS.
