Enabling a network connection as a limited user

Hi all,

Is there any way to allow Windows limited users to Enable and disable a
network connection?

I want this so my girlfriend can enable the wifi on my laptop from her
limited user account.

Most laptops have either a button or switch to toggle the wireless
on/off. If there is no button or switch, it is a key combination such
as FN + some-F*key. Refer to the laptop's manual for details.

So your girlfriend can disable the wireless by doing the above and this
has nothing to do with her user account.

You have two options...

1) Add her user account to the "Network Configuration Operators" group.
This can be done using the Computer Management MMC.

or

2) Modify the local policy on the laptop to allow non-administrators to
Enable/Disable network connections. To do this...
Click Start->Run->Type "gpedit.msc"->[ENTER]->Select "Administrative
Templates" under the "USER Configuration" tree-->Select "Network"-->Select
"Network Connections"-->Enable the "Ability to Enable/Disable a LAN
connection" setting

Thanks for the suggestion. I'd already tried that but when a limited
user presses this button it doesn't respond. I will try the suggestions
written by the other poster. I forgot to mention this is Windows XP
Home.

Hi bionicthumb,

I forgot to mention I have XP Home. I don't think I have access to
those options. Perhaps you could talk me through Step 1?

gpedit.msc isn't found.
