My task manager has somehow become disabled. I am using
XP Home. The ctrl-alt-del says the task manager has been
disabled by the system administrator. When I right click
on the task bar it shows the task manager as faint and
therefore unable to run. I tried to go into the registry
and change the disable task manager setting to 0 to
disable the disable and therefore to enable it but it
still doesn't work. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Larry,

Have you run a full system scan with an updated antivirus program yet?
Several bugs disable Task Manager in this manner, including Klez and Yaha.

Hi,

Thanks for responding. I run the updated online virus
scan from Trend Micro, Pc-cillin, all the time and
doesn't find anything. I wonder why when I manually
reset the registry that the task manager doesn't come
back.

Thanks,
Larry

Hi,

What do you mean by "manually reset the registry"?
