Hi Susan,

If I understand your question correctly, you would want to enable System
Scan if you want more protection. The cost is perhaps somewhat slower boot
performance (if the scan happens on boot). The actual affect will vary
depanding on the speed of your system - it may not be noticable. Most
people find the extra protection worth any potential delay in booting.
