Enable limited user to connect to the internet

I see that the computer administrator can rearrange or alter anything on the
computer, so was is it that when a friend or visitor wants to use the
internet I am forced to let them access my user account (the computer
administrator) because I cant seem to enable the limited or guest accounts to
access the internet.
How can I get the limited/guest accounts to access the internet, at the
moment when I double click on internet explorer it doesn't do anything.

Hi David,

This is nearly always caused by malicious software on the system, usually
BHO's that require admin level access to run. Removing them should resolve
the issue and allow the limited account to once again access Internet
Explorer. These can help:

Adaware www.lavasoft.de (make sure it's AdawareII and you fully update it)
Spybot www.safer-networking.org

This one can help you avoid these programs from being installed in the first
place:
Spyware Blaster: www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Rick,
I'm having a similar issue. I hope someone can help.
New computer
HP, AMD Athlon XP
Windows XP Home Edition
Dial-up modem

HISTORY:
First time start up, I am the Administrator, create three more accounts each
as Administrators. Download and setup Netscape ISP service w/Web
Accelerator. Login to all four accounts and dial-up with success into ISP
and Accelerator. Login to my Admin account and download MSN Messenger 6.2
and login with success. Login to other three admin accounts, one at a time
and set up MSN Messenger using individual hotmail account names. Login to
all four accounts, one at a time, and dial-up and login to MSN Messenger with
success.
PROBLEM:
Changed two of the four user accounts to 'Limted Account'. After the first
computer 'restart' these two limted accounts receive an error saying that the
'account is not logged-in and that Web Accelerator is not enabled' or the
following error:
BEGIN API RESPONSE
API_STATUS=ERROR
API_MESSAGE=INVALID PASSWORD OR USERNAME
END API RESPONSE

I then try to login to MSN Messenger and receive a popup error window stating:
WE WERE UNABLE TO SIGN IN TO .NET MESSENGER SERVICE, POSSIBLY BECAUSE OF A
PROBLEM WITH THE SERVICE OR WITH YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION. PLEASE MAKE SURE
THAT YOU ARE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET. 0x81000301
CLICK THE HELP BUTON TO CHECK THE CURRENT SERCIE STATUS.

If I follow the steps to allow MSN to check my PC settings while online, I
receive a pop-up message back saying that there is nothing wrong.

Is there something in the REGISTRY (i.e. HKEY_CURRENT_USER) that I can
change so that each user can login?
Thanks
Dana

Hi,

Check folder permissions, as the limited accounts will have only have "read"
permissions on the web accelerator and possibly netscape installation
folder. They will need "read and execute", and possibly "write" permissions.
Please do not confuse this with folder attributes (found on the general tab
of the folder's properties) which will show as "read only" and should be
ignored.

HOW TO: Set, View, Change, or Remove File and Folder Permissions in Windows
XP

The above article may help. Resolving the first issue will probably resolve
the second as it sounds like just a connectivity issue.
