Hello
You will have to install the NWLink IPX in all the computers
See if this will help
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;814987&Product=winxp

No, there's no reason to install IPX. All versions of Windows can
network with each other using the TCP/IP protocol.

Shannon, you didn't give us much to go on: we don't know how you set
up the network, how you're trying to access XP from 98SE, or what
happens when you do it. Please reply to this message in the news
group (not by E-mail) with complete details, and I'm sure that someone
can help. Be sure to give the complete text of all error messages.

Hi all,
Sorry to butt in but I have a similar problem and wonder if anyone can help.
I have 2 desktops and a laptop on my network through a Belkin combined ADSL
modem and router. Desktop 1 is wired to the router while laptop is wireless.
While it was these 2 PCs things were OK. I then connected another desktop
running Win 98 wirelessly and since then there is a problem. From my laptop
I can access certain folders but not others __ they are all shared but
access is denied. As Shannon said alltick boxes are ticked and all have
hands undr them suggesting that they are shared. I have disbled all
firewalls as well. Nothing seems to work. HELP!! Thanks.

Hi all

Me too!!!

I have a desktop PC (XP Home SP1) wired to an ADSLModem/Router and a Laptop
(Win98SE) connecting to the Router by wireless.

Both machines can access the Internet via the Router no problem.

I can access _all_ shared folders on my laptop from my Desktop but I can
only have access from my laptop to my "Shared Documents" folder on my
desktop machine.

When I try to connect to any other "shared" folders on my XP desktop I get
"Access Denied"

This shared folder is visible in "My Network Places" on my desktop machine
and can be accessed.

Any help/suggestions would greatly appreciated 'cos its driving me nuts!

OK, get this!

I *removed* the existing share on this folder.

I then re-shared the *same* folder with the *same* settings, name, etc.

It now works perfectly!

I give up!

I wish I knew *why* it now works?

Good luck everyone!
