Sice a few days ago, when I emty the recycle bin the system asks
confirmation to delete two items, but it do not empties the recycle bin. If I
browse it there are no files listed, but, nevertheless, if I give the empty
command it believes that tjere are still those two ghost items.
I searched for other posts and tried the suggestions, but with no success.
Anyone has a new idea?

What have you tried so far?

When I have had this in the past emptying the bin in safe mode or a reboot
usually sorts out the problem.

I've solved it by creating a folder on the desktop, throwing it in the
bin and then emptying the bin. Crap Cleaner will also do the trick,

Go to Kelly's site at http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm, click on
"R", and scroll to "Recycle Bin - Deleting Problems " for suggestions.

Thabks Spikey.

I already did what you suggest, but it did not work. Anyway I solved the
problem going to kelleys-corner.

Hi Rock,
unfortunately the problem arose again. I realized that it depends by an
external HD connected via USB. If the frive is not connected the recycle bin
work properly, while, if the drive is connected, the problem is still there
and in the bin there are two invivible files that cannot be deleted. I
thought to save elswhere all the content of the drive and to format it, but
in the drive there are 98 Gb of files and I don't know where to store them.
Have you any other suggestion?

Connect all the drives. Run Accessories > system tools > disk cleanup
Run it for each drive.
Right click the Recycle Bin, choose properties, under the global tab
check
(*) Use one setting for all drives.

Hi Frank,
thanks for the suggestion. In the mean time I finally solved the issue using
cclener and adding in the custom option the recycler folders as folders to
empty end performing a clean of the recycle bin. The tool found a corrupte
recycle bin in the USB drive and asked if it had to delete it anyway.
Replying yes all was settled.
