Empty Network Connections Folder

I recently attempted to use a dial-up connection that I had not used for a
while. I knew that I would have to change the phone number. When I went
into the Network Connections folder, I was shocked to see that there were no
icons in the folder. I should have a Local Area Network, Bridge, and
multiple dial-up connections. I tried to recreate the connection under the
same name, but I was told that it already existed. I tried to create a copy
of a dial-up connection under a different name. It temporarily showed up in
the folder, and then disappeared as soon as I double clicked it. I have
verified that both my modem and ethernet card are listed as working
correctly in the device manager. I have also noticed that I can see all of
my dial-up connections in the "Connections" tab of the "Internet Options"
menu in Internet Explorer. I can connect to the internet through the
dial-up connections if I open Internet Explorer and it asks me how I want to
connect. I cannot, however, see the connections in Network Connections.
Does anyone know how to get the icons to reappear? Thanks in advance! I
appreciate your help!

First make sure that your Network Connections Service and Remote Access
Connection Manager services are running. If they are then compare the LAN
connections in the connections folder with the Network Adapter drivers in
device manager. If there is a Network Adapter driver that doesn't have a
corresponding connection in the connections folder then try reinstalling it.
