Empty Combo Boxes

I have many combo boxes in forms and in tables which have suddenly stopped
showing any fields. They all show a completely blank drop down list. If I try
adding another one either from scratch or using the Wizard the fields all
appear to be there but in the front end of all forms the drop down is empty.
It is only on this one database.

Any ideas what I have done?

Judith, is this in Access 2003?
And did you recently apply Service Pack 3 for Office 2003?

If so, you are probably solve the problem by opening the table in design
view, and removing whatever is in the Format property of the field. (It's
new bug in SP3.)

We are experiencing the same issue with the empty drop down boxes being blank
after Office 2003 SP3 was installed. This is the only place that I found a
solution and for that I wish to thank you.

Is Microsoft going to post this officially on the Microsoft website with the
workaround you have suggested or will a hot fix be issued to fix this bug so
the workaround isn't necessary?

We have several people working on "fixing" the formatting on each of our
Access 2003 databases exhibiting this problem. Again thank you for this
solution. Without it the day could have deteriorated rapidly!!

Microsoft does now have two KB articles that are included in KB945674.
KB945280 in particular is of interest. This has to do with the way they
interpret SQL queries with SP3.

"Symptom 1
The control displays no value. However, you expect the control to display
values from the field that is returned by the SQL statement.

Symptom 2
The control displays -1 for the Yes value and 0 for the No value. However,
you expect the control to display Yes for the Yes value and No for the No
value.

These symptoms do not occur in versions of Access 2003 earlier than Access
2003 with Office 2003 SP3."
