OK, an elderly friend of mine and I are having this same problem. I
read the dozen references to eml and while vaguely similar, not the
same and only half of them were answered anyway.
Here is the problem. We receive either and email or an attachment
that has an eml extension and we can't get them to open properly. I
can read the html but thats it. I can click on "download" and the
window pops up what I want to open it with and I have tried several
things but I believe this is a MS file type I have recently only been
trying Outlook Express. OE will come up but say "no message."
Interestingly enough, the same file that opens on the wifes computer
in OE that will not open on mine. Another interesting thing is before
I went to DSL and MSN service I was using Thunderbird (I can't use it
on MSN, but you knew that, it is made that way) and I could open
them. Again, my friend is still using dial-up and since the new
computer has always been using OE but he can't get em either.
I went into 'tools' 'options' 'security' and unchecked the "Do Not
Allow attachments to be opened and saved · · ·" as was one of your
suggestions to someone else but that didn't help. I went into 'file
types' and eml wasn't registered to any application. I registered it
to OE and rebooted. It still doesn't work.
So how can I get eml's to open?
