Emergency : SQL server installation

I have been bought a laptop with Vista home basic O.S last week. the problem
is, I can't install SQL server on it.I tried the "Enterprise", "Developer"
and "Standard" edition of SQL, but I couldn't install non of them. in the
installation progress, it faced a problem in installing "Server database" and
it can't connect. what should I do?please help me! it's very necessary.

You cannot install any of the true SQL server editions on Vista - nor could
you on XP. They are designed to be installed within a server environment.
There is a lightweight version called "SQL Server Express Edition SP1" that
may or may not suit your needs.
