Hello All,

This is a notification about release of new software - Emergency Boot
CD.

Emergency Boot CD (EBCD) is a CD-ROM for booting PC and recovering
data in emergency situations.

EBCD contains file manager, which is able to process files on FAT,
NTFS, EXT3 volumes. All national characters in file names are
displayed correctly and preserved when copied. Long file names (LFNs)
are fully supported, including Unicode LFNs. Builtin editor and viewer
allows you to work with files in any DOS/Windows encodings, and also
UTF-8 and UTF-16.

Using EBCD you can backup your data from fixed disks to any hotplug
device like USB Flash, FireWire removable devices, or other fixed
disks; and restore it when necessary.

EBCD includes Windows Password Wizard, which can be used to restore
access to your PC when you forgot the password for Windows user
account.

EBCD also supports Serial ATA and SCSI disks, full read/write access
to NTFS partitions, USB flash drives, other removable mass storage
devices.

EBCD is a shareware for $29.95.

Doesn't look very free from where I'm sitting - it costs $50 - or am I
missing something?

Hit the above URL, click "Get Knoppix", then either Download with
BitTorrent if you want to contribute back to the community a little, or
Download with FTP.

In either case, absolutely no charge.

If you really feel better paying money, follow the "Buy a CD" link
http://www.thelinuxstore.ca/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=41_50 is
$9.97 for the latest.

Sheesh.

Here is a link to every post in the thread since you have trouble
reading the full quotes when they're presented here. Look at the
fifth post.

And what's with "whinging". Is that an Aussie thing? Over here we
call it "whining".
