embedding video

Can you embed a video file the same way that you embed a .wmv sound file?
I'd like to send out a slide with a video inserted, but not have to send the
video out with the email so that when the person opens the file the video
just starts playing.

The slide is really simple - just some text with the video next to it that
plays automatically.

Can I do an autorun email like the autorun CD? I know that was posted a
while ago, but can't find the answer.

(PPT 2003, but most users that it goes to will be on PPT 2000)

thanks!

Only files that you can embed are .wav files all others are linked. Depending on
the size of the video, you could put the video in the same folder as the
presentation *before* you create the link. Zip up the presentation along with
the video file and attach it to your email when it gets to its final destination
it should play just fine when unzipped

You can do Insert, Object, Create from File and point to your video file.
That will embed the video in your (now probably VERY large) PPT file.

Unless you're emailing to very naive users, no. Nobody with a lick of sense
and computer savvy will let anything autorun when it arrives via email.

If the PPT has all the needed bits embedded, though, you can rename it to
PPS or save as a PowerPoint Show (same difference, really) and send that;
depending on their email settings and a zillion other factors, that will
probably launch when they double click it.

More depressing limitations of email explained here:

Send a presentation that opens automatically in email
