Embedding Shockwave Flash object with transparent background in PP

When inserting a Flash object into any HTML the following code is used:

<param name="wmode" value="transparent">

The properties window on PPT has a field for WMode, but when putting
transparent as the assigned value nothing happens. The object does not apply
a transparent background.

Can the background transparency be achieved?

It's been a while since I hammered on this one to see if it works. But as of
the last time I tried it, the ActiveX component did not support transparency
in Powerpoint, even though it does in IE.
