Embedding music in PPS

J

Jakes

The problem I have is the size of .wavs

I use CDex to convert .mid files to .wavs to embed into
my PPS. Starting off with a .mid file of 2.5MB I end up with
a final PPS of 28MB! To large to be emailed.

I tried to use the midi sequence (object) but I cannot get
these files to be a single file with my presentation (stays linked
to even the same folder) .wma also works, but the link remains.

Opening existing PPS with music (small file <1MB) there is no
way I can work out where and what type of music is embedded in the
presentation.

What extension are used with these small PPS with music?

Thanks

Jakes

RIFF Wav s made with Cdex should be the same size as the mp3 thay came from.
CDex is not the easiest to use are you sure youve got it right? (Are you for
eg using "add a riff wav header" to convert the file)

Midi files cannot be embedded

Music files in pps will either show as a speaker icon (maybe off slide) or
in the slide transition pane in "sounds" If theyre embedded in the
presentation they will be .wav

As an alternative, you may want to take your WAV file into "Sound Recorder"
which is available through Start, All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment.
With your WAV file opened in Sound Recorder, click on File, Properties,
Convert Now. As a good place to start, scroll down until you find "MPEG
Layer-3 16kBit/s 11,025 Hz, Mono". See if this does not help your situation.

Jakes,

*Only* .wav files can be embedded into powerpoint presentations.

You can convert your wav file from sterero to mono to halve the size.
You can change the bit rate to lower the size further.
You can also convert the wav to mp3, but then use CDex to make powerpoint
think the mp3 is really a wav file.
