The XP embedded CD writing software has stopped working.
An alternative writing program does work. Device Manager
indcates nothing wrong with my CD drive. Can anyone tell
me how to get the embedded XP CD writing software to work
again. The first time this happened I did a system
restore and got it back. This time no restore point
brings back this capability.

The two programs may be fighting one another.

Right-click on the CD drive, click PROPERTIES|RECORD tab. Enable
recording, and see if that brings the native CD burner back to life.

If not, please provide more info on the "alternative writing program".

Open My Computer and right-click the cd-rw drive icon. Left-click on
Properties. Look on the Recording tab. Is the box enabling recording on
that drive checked?
