Embedded Messenger Pop-up

Ever since I downloaded free software promising me no
more web page pop-ups,(it didn't work), I am now getting
many pop up messenger ads, some porno ads but many
advertising me to sign up for anti popup software. I
have deleted messenger from windows, but I am surprised
it keeps giving me messages, with or without the
internet. How can I find out the origin for this (I
think) embedded file. I have tried searching for "popup"
found several files and deleted, but they still keep
coming. Very Frustrating.
Thanks for any advise.

PS I also enabled today IC firewall protection in Windows
XP but to no avail, they still keep coming.

This group is for Xp embedded, which is for embedded systems i.e. Set Tob
Boxes etc

The XP Embedded newsgroup is about windows for embedded systems (similar to
windows for cellphones or cars, but for 'heavier' applications), not about
something embedded in windows.

To get rid of any spamware you installed, try AdAware.
