I received a PowerPoint document from a client. When I open the file it
says it cannot be saved because of an embedded font. What can I do? Do I
have to ask the client to resend without the font? I tried copying and
pasting the pages to another presentation and it was grayed out.

Thanks

Sara

erPoint 2003 and there are embedded fonts, the file can only be opened as Read
Only. You either need to have the fonts installed on your system, or request
that the presentation be saved without embedded fonts and sent to you that way.

Hi Sara,

It appears that most of Sonia's undoubtedly erudite answer was consumed by
demons. Or perhaps it was the lawyers at MS who foisted this font problem upon
us in the first place. Assuming there's a difference, that is.

Anyhow, have a look here:

PowerPoint opens presentations as Read-Only, won't allow editing when fonts
embedded

The short of it is that you'll either need to find out which font is embedded
and install it (the link above explains how) or get the client to save a
version w/o the font embedded.

Unless you happen to have an earlier version of PPT handy ... again, the link
explains what to do with it if so.
