emails in my inbox

I noticed that the old emails in my inbox will automatically disappear. I
check to see if Outlook auto deletes them, but they are not in my deleted
folder.
Why does this happen?
Where do the emails get sent to?
How do I keep any email in my inbox until I want it deleted?

Firstly check that you haven't got a view enabled which shows only unread
mail. if not, then check your archiving set-up.
