Emails come in as HTML files

I am trying to figure out why when I recieve emails to my
Outlook 97 program, that the email body comes in as a
HTML file instead of the actual text such as
ATT00000.html. After I double click the attachment, the
text body is visible. Why does it not come in directly
as text like I am used to?

Any help is appreciated.

That's because OL97 doesn't support HTML mail. It came out before HTML mail
became popular. Support for HTML mail was added in OL98
