emails change to READ after about a minute without opening.

I have outlook 2003 on an exchage server. Email come in and after about a
minute thay change to READ (they are not highlighed) without making any
opening or making any any actions.
 
Are you using the reading pane? Have you checked the settings for it??
Tools | Options | Other tab | Reading Pane is where you set how it marks
items as Read.
