Emailing Zip Files

Frequently, I send several word documents to my business associate. Often,
if there are quite a few, I will send them as a zip file. She comes back
with an email saying that first, the file was quarentined, then once she
overrides that, it won't open, saying it's "corrupted or invalid". The file
extension is "zip" when it leaves here, but is zm9 when she gets it. Is it
the sending or receiving that is causing this? I don't seem to have this
problem when I send zip files to others.

thanks in advance!

This might be more of a Word problem than a Windows one. One
reason why a word file, even when compressed into a ZIP file,
would be quarantined is due to the presence of a detectable
virus characteristic, including a macro one. That would be my
suspicion.=

It is the receiving end.
Ask your friend to change the configuration for attachments in her
Email Protection in ZoneAlarm Control Center

the easist way is to change the file extension and then zip it ie change teh
file name fro word.doc to word.001 and then zip the file send it to your
friend han have her change it back to word.doc from .001 i have used this to
send exe files to some of my customers. if the extension doesn't display go
to explorer click on tools folder options , view and uncheck hide extensions
for known file types.

Change the file's extension to ".PIZ" before attaching. Have her rename the
file to ".ZIP" after receiving it should work.

Ask elsewhere. This question is not related to XP since XP has no
native ability to email anything.

What are you talking about? XP has zip facility built into it (though
it may not be as good as you are used to). Also, XP has very good email
program such as OE (Outlook express). OE is free and so it is good
value for money.

You seem to have misunderstood the question Mr NobodyMan.

No, I didn't misunderstand the question. I never even brought up
Zipping, but yes, I know that XP has that ability written into it.

However, XP has NO - Zero, nada, zippo - ability to send e-mails, at
least not natively. Yes, OE is bundled with XP, but it is NOT XP but
a separate program. If you want to ask questions about why you are
having trouble sending ZIP files using OE, then go ask in a group that
deals with OE. Your question is misplaced here. You are the one who
misunderstands here.
