I've read many of the posts on this site about how to make sure my sound goes
with my presentation. However I have a question.

My sound is an midi sequence file. Can that be embedded??

Can movie's be embedded?

I was going to zip my file to the end users, but most of them are very
computer illeterate and I don't want to make it too hard on them. If I zip
it how do I make it easy for them to only double click on the Powerpoint
presentation and not all the other files.

Any help would be great.

Only wav file can be embedded.

As for movies, they can only be linked.

The best way is to create a folder.
Then, move your ppt, movie and sound to the folder.
Re-insert them so as to create pathless link. This will reduce the chance of
link breaking.
When emailing, you will need to include the sound and movie.

tohlz's suggestion is the way you want to do it to help keep your file size
down.

Another way to send the file is as an executable -- then your receipients
only need to worry about one file. The downside - your file size will
increase (and may end up to large for email). You can find instructions for
converting PowerPoint 2003 to an exe here:
http://www.presentations.com/presentations/creation/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000492115.
Geetesh also has instructions for converting 2002 to an exe.

Let me know if this is helpful.

I realized that I have copied the wrong link, sorry about that. Here's the
correct one:
"Sounds/Movies don't play, images disappear or links break when I move or
email a presentation"

No, only WAV sounds can be embedded.

No.

You can turn ZIP files into self-extracting EXEs, little programs that unzip the
contents automatically when the user runs them. If you have WinZIP, check the
help for terms like "self-extracting"

You can even have a self-extracter run a file on completion so you might be able
to get the PPT to launch automatically.

On the other hand, lots of places don't allow EXE files in email, so that opens
the lid on a whole NEW bucket of worms.

Over to you, Mike.
