What is the best way to 'collect' mdb database entries
made by students at home for adding to a main mdb
database at school? Email strips the attachments.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Renaming the file
doesn't change the .mdb extension in XP and most students
do not have a clue about DOS now.

There is no need for a knowledge of DOS but there is a need for Windows
knowledge.
I email mdb files and others not allowed by Outlook on a regular basis by
changing the extension to $$$.

I suspect you are not showing the extensions.

You can either allow Outlook to receive the mdb extension (there is a
knowledgebase article) or teach the students how to show the file extensions
in an explorer window.
