emailed queries sent in XLS format are empty in Access 2007

When I email a query in XLS format, the receiving party opens an empty
spreadsheet even though the correct size (example: 29k) displays next to the
attachement. Tried saving to desktop and appeared they had a 29k XLS file,
but when opened, no data.
 
Excel isn't a database. Don't rely on it; it's not enterprise ready.
