I have a message in my inbox that I cannot open or delete. I trust the
author. When I try to delete this message it tells me an unknown error has
occurred, to get help from the communities. I have tried several of the
suggestions that are posted ie: View, layout,preview pane etc. without
success.
I am open to other suggestions that will not be too involved as I am not
very computer savvy.......Awaiting help.

Microsoft has a fix for that:

"Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a
computer that is running Windows Vista"

That page offers two download options. Unless you know for sure
you have 64-bit Vista, use the 32-bit option.

Although only 'Outbox' is mentioned, it will enable removal of stuck
emails from any folder.
