Unable to delete an e-mail from the IN box.

There is one e-mail in my IN box which I am unable to delete, move, or open.
It shows a message saing "An unknown error has occurred"
I have tried going to VIEW/LAYOUT/TURN OFF PREVIEW PANE to no avail.
The e-mail is from a trusted sender and I was able to view it OK 2 weeks ago.
Can anyone help me?
