email will not leave the outbox

Email will not send correctly. When I try to send an email with an
attachment. I press send on the email and it goes to outbox in Outlook. It
stays in the outbox after it has been sent and never goes to the sent box and
the email keeps sending the email till I delete it. It has sent the same
email over 50 times. How do I fix it?
 
Set Outlook to offline mode, close outlook, wait a while, reopen see if you
can then delete it.
Set outlook back to online

This is usually caused by having configured your antivirus program to scan
mail. That;s not necessary. Uninstall your AV program and reinstall it
without the mail scanning feature. Also make sure your send/receive
interval is no less than eight to ten minutes.
