I had the same question, and found your posting. However, I tried this, and
it only changed the grouping for the folder I was currently in, not all
folders.
Using Outlook 2007 in Vista, how would you suggest I can make this a global
change? I've got about 50 folders with email in them that I'd rather not
change one at a time.

That may be because you didn't make sure all your folders were using the
Messages view first. Start Outlook with the /cleanviews command switch, then
change the default Messages view.
