Email stuck in Outbox

After I have composed an email and i click the send button it just sits in
my outbox until I then go and hit send and recieve again.
Any suggestions?

Under Tools-->Options-->Mail Setup-->Send/Receive
Is it checked to 'Send Immediately when connected'?
