email recipient (as attachment)

I have been using MS Word 2002 and recently discovered that I do not have the
"Send to mail recipeint (as attachment)" as an option on the drop down menu.
In the options area, the send mail as attachment has been toggled on,
however, all direct send mail from within word, sends it in the body of the
email, not as an attachment. I have run the detect and repair, but it did
not fix this problem. Can anyone suggest an fix to restore the send as
attachment feature?
